چکیده
In this paper, we carry out an a posteriori error analysis of Legendre spectral approximations to the Stokes/Darcy coupled equations. The spectral approximations are based on aweak formulation of the coupled equations by using the Beavers-JosephSaffman interface condition. The main contribution of the paper consists of deriving a number of posteriori error indicators and their upper and lower bounds for the single domain case. An extension of the upper bounds to the multi-domain case in the spectral element framework is also given. AMS subject classifications: 35Q35, 76D03

Equivalent a posteriori error estimates for spectral element solutions of constrained optimal control problem in one dimension
In this paper, we study spectral element approximation for a constrained optimal control problem in one dimension. The equivalent a posteriori error estimators are derived for the control, the state and the adjoint state approximation. Such estimators can be used to construct adaptive spectral elements for the control problems.
متن کاملA posteriori error estimate for the H(div) conforming mixed finite element for the coupled Darcy-Stokes system
An H(div) conforming mixed finite element method has been proposed for the coupled Darcy-Stokes flow in [30], which imposes normal continuity on the velocity field strongly across the Darcy-Stokes interface. Here, we develop an a posteriori error estimator for this H(div) conforming mixed method, and prove its global reliability and efficiency. Due to the strong coupling on the interface, speci...
متن کاملA Residual-Based A Posteriori Error Estimator for the Stokes-Darcy Coupled Problem
In this paper we develop an a posteriori error analysis of a new conforming mixed finite element method for the coupling of fluid flow with porous media flow. The flows are governed by the Stokes and Darcy equations, respectively, and the transmission conditions are given by mass conservation, balance of normal forces, and the Beavers-Joseph-Saffman law. The finite element subspaces consider Be...
متن کاملReduced basis approximation and a-posteriori error estimation for the coupled Stokes-Darcy system
The coupling of a free flow with a flow through porous media has many potential applications in several fields related with computational science and engineering, such as blood flows, environmental problems or food technologies. We present a reduced basis method for such coupled problems. The reduced basis method is a model order reduction method applied in the context of parametrized systems. ...
متن کاملMortar Finite Element Discretization of a Model Coupling Darcy and Stokes Equations
As a first draft of a model for a river flowing on a homogeneous porous ground, we consider a system where the Darcy and Stokes equations are coupled via appropriate matching conditions on the interface. We propose a discretization of this problem which combines the mortar method with standard finite elements, in order to handle separately the flow inside and outside the porous medium. We prove...
